Watch a video to learn how to quickly and easily create a new tag layout using LabeLase® Producer's built-in label designer.
To take advantage of InfoSight's pre-printed tag service, you need some way of getting your data to us so we can print it on your tags. By far the easiest way of sending your data to us is in the form of an Excel spreadsheet. Most businesses have access to Microsoft's premier spreadsheet application, and for those who don't, the open-source (and free) OpenOffice suite can easily create spreadsheets in the Excel file format.
Download text strings to InfoSight's I-Dent® and InfoDent® marking systems over an Ethernet network using TCP/IP sockets.
LabeLase® Producer makes it easy to combine multiple fields into a single barcode, but sometimes your downstream scanning application needs help decoding each field.
While it has always been possible to automatically print comma separated files (CSV) and other text-only files using the File Transfer method, directly printing Excel spreadsheet files (XLS, XLSX) wasn't supported by LabelLase® Producer. That has all changed with the newest software release.
The key to importing data into LabeLase® Producer from an Excel spreadsheet is to build your Operator Data Entry table to match the columns in the spreadsheet. Manually building the table can be time consuming and error prone, so here we present an easier way by importing the spreadsheet directly.
Importing a spreadsheet into LabeLase® Producer that contains cells formatted as a date can be problematic since Excel wants to change dates into numbers. Here are a couple of ways to work around this problem.
You may find that you need to trim unwanted space characters from a text string in LabeLase Producer, especially when you're relying on a human operator to enter the data. Here is a quick tutorial on how to do just that.
Version 2 and higher of InfoSight's LabeLase® Producer can read data directly from an Excel spreadsheet and use it to print tags. In the third and final part of our tutorial we import the spreadsheet data into our layout and print our tags.
